This seminar explores methodologies that go beyond conventional approaches in landscape and urban research. By emphasising mobile, embodied, participatory, and artistic methods, we work across disciplinary boundaries and tackle pressing themes such as contested grounds, colonial and infrastructural histories, speculative ethnography and climate futures, agroecological and seed futures, and the politics of naming and place, among others. The “more-than” in the course title reflects our commitment to exploring and expanding emergent methodologies, while also questioning, troubling, rethinking, and unlearning them as we engage with complex and contested issues and recognise that methods themselves are never innocent. Our ultimate objective is for participants to engage critically with these methodologies and themes, contextualise them through key texts, and develop their own unique research approaches through in-class discussions and writing assignments.
